"It's rediclous" - FCC filing of the week

by Documents  Jun 15 2007 - 1:24pm

Posted to the FCC's XM/Sirius docket (07-57) on June 11th.

"I believe that Sirius and XM satellite radio should be allowed to merge. By merging consumers will be able to get the best of both companies. They really aren't competing agains eachother anyways, they are competing with new technologies that have surfaced since the birth of satellite radio. Mainly they are fighting the IPOD. I'm sure your well aware of the significant monolopizing effect the Ipod has had on the entertainment media world. It's rediclous. In fact most of my acquaintances have ipods in their cars. They don't even have satellite radio. I subscribe to Sirius in my vehicle and my Girlfriend subscribes to XM. There are ups and downs to both of them. Merging would definitely elimitate most of the downs and would allow two great companies combine their best programmings and creat something that might be able to compete with the Ipod. I dobut even if theymerge they will be able to compete with the ipod anyway, but they definitely don't stand a chance as two singular companies. One will definitely have to claim bankruptcy and then you'll have 1 satelite radio company anyways, just you won't have the best programming of both, combined. Both stock are struggling, that' obvious, it's because it cost too much to keep two companies afloat. They need to combine into one great company. I hate to say it, but eventhough I won Sirius satellite radio. . . I still use my ipod in the car. In fact I'd say the majority of the time I'll use my Ipod. I mean you trying to regulate two companies that are going down the toilet cause they are too expensive for themselves. Where are the regulation on the monopoly apple has on the MP3 and portable media world. I mean sure you could say that there are other mp3 players in circulation, but how much of the MP3 player market share does apple hold? I'd say I'd gotta be over 80 percent. I'm sure it's just going to go up. I believe that the Sirius/XM merger would benefit the public more than you think."
